Session Drummer Steps Into the Spotlight with Debut Single “The Remission”

Hailing from the city of Bristol (UK) and after years behind the kit supporting a number of artists, the busy session drummer, AJ Rousell, is stepping into the limelight with the release of his debut single, ‘The Remission’ — a powerful and energetic track, that showcases his drumming and musicality in a new way.

Best known for his work with artists in the Country, Rock, Folk, and CCM scene, this debut track from AJ shows his energy, precision and dynamic range behind the drums. AJ Rousell has spent over a decade helping shape the sound of artist’s recordings and live performances. For the first time, with “The Remission,” he emerges as the artist— not just the drummer, but

the composer, producer and storyteller.

AJ gives more insight… “My job has always been to learn the songs, turn up to the stage or studio, deliver the songs, with the goal of making the artist's music sound the best it can. And even now, it is one of my favourite things to do! But there can come a point in a musician’s journey where they want to start exploring their own sound and ideas, and create music that is totally in their own hands.”

Blending cinematic textures, a strong and catchy melody, and explosive rhythmic ideas, “The Remission” pushes into an exciting musical space. It’s a track that reflects the pulse of a drummer who understands tension, release and impact — and who now commands from the front of the stage.

Recorded in Mill Farm Studios and produced by AJ Rousell and Tom Jobling, this single showcases the full spectrum of his musical influences, from his church background to his Rock / Pop / Country influences.
